What Do We Do?
EVERYTHING WE CAN
Helping those in their hour of need.
BOSH provides an outreach service providing, not only the basic necessities for survival on the streets, but anything we reasonably can to make our street friends' lives more comfortable, whilst they are waiting for accommodation. We also provide advocacy, advice, one to one support and help settling in to a new home and maintaining a tenancy.
Individual support for individuals.
Advocacy involves individually tailored support to people who fear being treated with a lack of dignity and respect, and who feel disempowerment over choices and decision making.
Support is available to accompany people to appointments, assist with housing applications, benefits, registering with a GP, dentist, accessing other services. We also provide talking therapies and floating support.
Service user inclusion is vital to the development and continued growth of our project. We have regular meetings to find out how we can improve our services.
A safe space.
The BOSH outreach cafe runs on a Friday, based at Docklands Youth Centre, Brigstocke Road, St Paul's, Bristol. The cafe provides a safe, welcoming environment for rough sleepers and the homeless to socialise, access support and facilities. There are large comfy sofas to relax on, a pool table and an indoor basketball court, which is in constant use when we are open. We offer free haircuts, pedicures, clothing, toiletries, books, an informal food bank, cold snacks, food packs to take away and a freshly cooked meal is served at lunchtime. We also facilitate a small number of voluntary roles for rough sleepers at the cafe.
